Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By accessing or using Black Hair API ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Andrien Ricketts, the operator of Black Hair API.

2. The Service

Black Hair API provides programmatic access to hair care product data for Black and textured hair via a REST API. We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. API keys and accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your API key secure and confidential
  • You must not share your API key with third parties or use it in publicly accessible client-side code
  • You are responsible for all usage that occurs under your API key
  • We may suspend or terminate your key if we detect abuse or unauthorised use

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to build competing API products or resell access to the data
  • Exceed your plan's rate limits or attempt to circumvent them
  • Use automated means to scrape or bulk-download the entire dataset
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

5. Payments and billing

  • Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe
  • All fees are non-refundable except where required by law
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice
  • Failed payments may result in suspension of your API key
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period

6. Data accuracy

While we strive to maintain accurate and up-to-date product data, we make no warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy or currency of the data. You should not rely solely on our data for medical, health or safety decisions. Always verify ingredient information directly with the product manufacturer.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its API design, documentation and underlying technology, is owned by Andrien Ricketts and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from our API without written permission.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Black Hair API shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amounts paid by you in the three months preceding the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Black Hair API and its operator from any claims, damages or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these terms.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without notice, for breach of these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
